Privacy Policy

The Privacy Policy below pertains to the information collected by LetSync, a mobile application and research study led by the faculty at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) and overseen by the Institutional Review Board at UCSF.

This Privacy Policy details how the LetSync application collects, uses, discloses, and processes information in respect to the LetSync research study.

I. When does this Privacy Policy apply?

This Privacy Policy applies to information that can be used to identify you or your partner (“Personal Data”) that you provide directly, either in LetSync or through associated survey platforms. Only adults over the age of 18 can register for LetSync.

II. What data does LetSync collect?

“Personal Data” refers to name, email, phone number, or any other personally identifying data. LetSync will only collect as much Personal Data as is necessary to participate in research.

III. How will the data collected through LetSync be used?

LetSync collects data for the primary purpose of understanding how our users’ health-care engagement outcomes change with dyadic coordination. Data from this study may be used in future research studies.

Analytics and usage data is collected to assess the usage, success, and performance trends of the application, with respect to the LetSync study. Passwords and sensitive information are encrypted and stored in our servers for user management.

IV. How will LetSync store my Personal Data?

Your contact information will be kept in a secure database owned by UCSF. The LetSync database adheres to privacy guidelines established by the U.S. Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA). All data are transmitted, stored, and processed in a secure environment.

V. Will my Personal Data be shared with any third parties?

No, this information will not be shared with any third parties. Your Personal Data will solely be used for research purposes, and we will not share your identifying information with anyone other than the LetSync study team.

VI. What if I no longer want to participate?

At any time, you may decide to withdraw your consent from the LetSync study. If you decide to withdraw, no further data will be collected. However, the data you have already provided while participating will not be removed from the LetSync database, as clarified in the terms of our study’s consent agreement provided upon enrollment.
